The U.S. Postal Service's list of potential facility closures includes the branch that handles mail sent to the State Capitol and nearby state government buildings.

Jim Mruk, a spokesman for the Postal Services' Great Lakes Region, said a review is under way to determine if consolidating some offices would result in cost savings or improved efficiencies.

The Capitol station, located in the basement of the Stratton Office Building, could combine operations with a post office located a couple of blocks away, at Fourth and Monroe streets.

"Until the review is complete and all the analysis is done, we don't know if we will actually consolidate that facility," Mruk said.
