Lady Warriors win season opener against St. Peters
The Ss. Peter &Paul girls eighth grade volleyball team opened the 2020 season Thursday night at home by beating St. Peters of Marshall in two straight sets 25-19 and 25-21.
Ss. Peter & Paul coach Carol Griffin said this was a great opening night and also eighth grade recognition. “The girls did a great job of working together and getting a win to start the year,” Griffin said. “Our serves and passing is getting better but we will continue to get stronger. We have some players who have stepped up to the challenge. We play our next match on September 16 at home against Bueker Middle School out of Marshall. They beat us last year so we will be getting the girls ready.”
Mabry Caton led the Lady Warriors with five service points with two aces along with three assists and one kill. Randy Cottrell finished the match with five service points while Ellise Kirchner added one service point, six assists, three digs and one kill, Delaney Rowlett with two service points along with four kills, Riley Wilson with one service points, five kills and three assists, Reagan Wilson with two assists and one dig and Addison Johnson with two kills, one assist and one dig.
