Shelter Insurance, Jennings Premium Meats win in NF Instructional League

Shelter Insurance and Jennings Premium Meats picked up wins in Instructional League play last Saturday in New Franklin.

In the first game, Shelter Insurance defeated Chipley & Company 12-9.

After playing to a 3-3 tie in the first inning, Shelter Insurance came back and plated one run in the second, three in the third, three in the fifth and two again in the sixth.

Chipley &Company, meanwhile, scored three in the first, three again in the fourth and three in the sixth.

Luke Chitwood had four hits in the game for Shelter Insurance with one single, three doubles and one triple. Luke Chitwood finished the game with one single and three singles while Reid Hackman added two singles and one triple, Audrey Dobson, Jayse McCullough and Griffin Chitwood each with two singles and Easton Ashburn with one double.

For Chipley & Company, Hudson Shaw had one single and three home runs. Grayson Richerson finished the game with one single, one double and one home run while Dawson Miller added two singles and Aubrey Loerzel, Vincent Baker, Hayden Swigert and Bailey Briggs with one single apiece.

In the second game, Jennings Premium Meats rallied past GKC-CPA’s for a 14-10 victory.

Jennings Premium Meats led GKC-CPA’s 20 after two and 8-1 after three. However, in the top half of the fourth, GKC-CPA’s rallied back with nine runs to go up 10-8. But even that was short-lived as Jennings Premium Meats stormed back with six runs in the bottom half of the fourth for the victory.

Colten Long led the hitting attack in the game for Jennings Premium Meats with one single and two home runs. Tristan Riekhoff finished the game with one single and two doubles while Thomas Neal added two singles and one double, Cayden Long and Braylen Mize each with three singles, Ellie Gerding with two singles and Easton Washburn with one single.

For GKC-CPA’s, Griffin Chitwood and Crew Wilmsmeyer each had three singles and one triple. Trevin Fairly finished the game with three singles while Hays Wilmsmeyer had one single and one double, Emma Durbin with two singles, Conner Boley with one triple and Sofia Crowley, Bryce Grindstaff, Britton Kircher and Bailey Grindstaff each with one single.
