QuinlanAgency.com, CARSTAR prevail in Cal Ripken Major

QuinlanAgency.com broke a 3-3 tie with one run in the bottom half of the sixth to beat Rt. B Cafe 4-3 in Cal Ripken Major Thursday night at the Cooper County Baseball Association ballfield at Harley park.

QuinlanAgency.com, 5-1 on the season, led Rt. B Cafe 3-1 after four complete innings but then surrendered two runs in the top-half of the sixth before rallying with the winning run in the bottom half of the inning.

Lucas Schuster pitched the first-three innings to pick up the win for QA.com. Lane Hackman took the loss for Rt. B Cafe, who dropped to 3-3. Schuster had six strikeouts and gave up two runs on one hits and one walk. Shawn Beach-Reasons pitched two innings in relief for QA.com while Isaac Herman took the mound for one inning.

For Rt. B Cafe, Hackman pitched five innings and struck out five batters while giving up three runs on three hits and one walk. Kailen Vaca pitched 1/3 inning in relief.

Shawn Beach-Reasons had one single and three runs batted in to lead QA.com in hitting. Lucas Schuster and Isaac Herman each had one hit.

For Rt. B Cafe, Lane Hackman doubled while Aden Rapp singled and drove in two runs. Alex Ewings had one single while Brayden Viertel drove in one run.

In the nightcap, CARSTAR raised its season record to 2-4 overall by beating Huebert Fiberboard 14-6 in the first game Thursday night in Cal Ripken Major.

Although Huebert Fiberboard put up a good fight in the first inning by tying the game, they seemed to have no answer in the second or third innings as CARSTAR scored a total of six runs to go up 7-1. However, in the top half of the fourth, Huebert Fiberboard put a scare into CARSTAR with five runs to cut the lead to one at 7-6. Unfortunately for Huebert Fiberboard, they never got any closer in the ballgame as CARSTAR tacked on seven more runs in its half of the fourth for the win.

Payton Oeth picked up the win for CARSTAR with nine strikeouts in three innings. Oeth also gave up just one run on three walks.

CARSTAR used a total of four different pitchers in the game against Huebert Fiberboard.

Samuel Hage took the loss for Huebert Fiberboard, who dropped to 1-5, and surrendered seven runs on five hits and six walks while striking out three batters. Dylan Kosky pitched one inning in relief.

As for the hitting in the game for CARSTAR, Payton Oeth went 2-for-2 with a single, double and five RBIs. Aiden Schueler had a single, double and two RBIs while Camrin Massey added a single and a double, Jett Storm with one single and two RBIs and Baylor Jackson with one single and one RBI.

For Huebert Fiberboard, Dylan McGuire doubled and drove in two runs. Brad Norbury had one single and one RBI while Seth Thomas, Reece Townlain and Dylan Kosky added one single each and Hayden Sandbothe and Jayden Salzman each with one RBI.
