Prairie Home rallies past Imhoff’s Appliance in Junior Babe Ruth

Imhoff’s Appliance didn’t make it easy on Prairie Home last Wednesday in Junior Babe Ruth action at Twillman field in Harley park.

Although Imhoff’s Appliance entered the game winless on the season, they led Prairie Home by one (5-4)after three innings. Unfortunately for Imhoff’s Appliance, they had trouble protecting the lead as Prairie Home rallied back with two in the fourth and five again in the fifth for a 11-7 victory.

In the nightcap, KWRT improved to 3-0 on the season by turning back Glasgow 11-1 in five innings.

Prairie Home, 2-2 on the season, had a good enough start to the game with two runs in the first and one in each of the second and third innings to go up 4-1. However, in the bottom half of the third, Imhoff’s Appliance rattled the bats and scored four runs to lead for the first time in the game by a score of 5-4. That turned out to be the only lead in the game for Imhoff’s Appliance as Prairie Home came back and tacked on two more runs in the fourth and five again in the fifth to go ahead 11-5. Prairie Home cut the gap down to four runs after that with one in the bottom half of the fifth and one again in the sixth.

Jackson Pitts picked up the win in relief for Prairie Home while Tyson White took the loss for Imhoff’s Appliance.

Wyatt Case started the game for Prairie Home and gave up three runs on five walks in two innings. Case also had two strikeouts in the game. Pitts then came in and pitched four innings in relief and allowed four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five batters.

For Imhoff’s Appliance, Lance Haynes pitched the first-two innings and gave up three runs on two hits and one walk while striking out two batters.

Layne Brandes had two singles and drove in three runs to lead all hitters for Prairie Home. Mitchell Herigon finished the game with one single and two RBIs while Trenton Schoen added one single and one RBI, Landon Case and Wyatt Case each with one single and Blayne Williams with one RBI.

For Imhoff’s Appliance, who dropped to 0-3, Gage McKenzie and Lance Haynes each had two singles and one RBI. Shane Chamberlain had one single and drove in one run while Timothy Kee added one single and Tyson White with one RBI.

In the second game, KWRT left little doubt against Glasgow while scoring all 11 runs in the first-four innings while pushing across four in the first, two again in the third and five in the fourth.

Glasgow scored its only run of the ballgame in the top half of the fifth.

Conner Acton picked up the win for KWRT while Deklan Himmelberg took the loss for Glasgow, who dropped to 1-3. Acton pitched the first-four innings and struck out three batters while walking three.

For Glasgow, Himmelberg pitched the first-three innings and gave up six runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four batters.

KWRT also out-hit Glasgow 8-1, with Ethan Watson going 3-for-3 with two singles, one double and three RBIs. Caidyn Hazel finished the game with two singles while Conner Acton added one single and one RBI, Bennett Greenhagen and Edrissa Bah with one single each and Ethan Hurley and Michael DeLeon with one RBIeach.

For Glasgow, Kaden Carmack had the only hit with one single.

In a single game last Wednesday at New Franklin, Central Realty handed the Bulldogs their first loss in two years with a 12-7 victory.

Central Realty, 2-2 on the season, led New Franklin from the second inning on by pushing across two runs in the second and three again in the third to go up 5-0. Then, after New Franklin rallied back with four runs in the bottom half of the third to cut the lead to one at 5-4, Central Realty came back and exploded for six more runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to extend the lead to 12-4. New Franklin closed out the game with three runs in the bottom half of the sixth.

Cash Valencia was the winning pitcher in the game for Central Realty while Tanner Bishop took the loss for New Franklin. Valencia pitched the first-five innings and struck out five batters while giving up four runs on five hits and three walks.

For New Franklin, Bishop pitched 3 1/3 innings and struck out six batters while giving up seven runs on four hits and seven walks.

Garrett Hundley went 3-for-3 in the game for Central Realty with three singles and one RBI. Tucker Lorenz finished the game with two singles and one RBIwhile Treyton Ginter added one single and three RBIs, Abram Taylor with one single and two RBIs, Rhodes Leonard and Alec Schupp each with one single and one RBI and Blake Griffin with one single.

For New Franklin, Drake Clark and Tanner Bishop each had two singles. Owen Armentrout doubled in the game while Sawyer Felton added one single and two RBIs and Ryan Hundley, Kaden Sanders and Kaden Skaggs each with one RBI.

Note:New Franklin defeated Prairie Home 17-6 in a single game last Thursday in Prairie Home.
