Central Realty scores early and often against CARSTAR

Chris Bowie

Central Realty had the right game plan against CARSTAR in Cal Ripken Major Monday night at the high school ballfield.

The plan to score early couldn’t have worked out any better as Central Realty exploded for 11 runs in the first two innings to beat CARSTAR 15-8.

Winners of its last two games, Central Realty improved to 2-1 on the season while CARSTAR dropped to 1-2.

Although CARSTAR matched Central Realty with four hits and finished the game with two doubles, the game was lost for CARSTAR in the first two innings. Central Realty plated four runs in the first and seven in the second to push the lead to 11-0. Then, after a scoreless third inning, CARSTAR rallied back with six runs to cut the lead to five at 11-6. However it was too little too late for CARSTAR as Central Realty came back and tacked on four runs in its half of the fourth to make it 15-6. Meanwhile, in the fifth inning, CARSTAR sent across two more runs to round out the scoring.

Cash Leonard picked up the win on the bump for Central Realty while Charles Alexander took the loss for CARSTAR. Leonard pitched three innings and struck out three batters while giving up two runs on no hits and two walks. Clayton Schuster then came in and pitched two innings in relief and allowed six runs on four hits and six walks while striking out six.

For CARSTAR, Alexander pitched the first inning and issued seven runs on two innings and five walks while striking out two. Baylor Jackson then came in and pitched 2 1/3 innings in relief and surrendered eight runs on two hits and four walks while striking out six batters. Then, to finish the game, Maddex Jackson pitched 2/3 inning and struck out one batter.

Gabe Romero-Shelton had a single and drove in three runs to lead all hitters for Central Realty. Jackson Shelton finished the game with one single and two RBIs while Jailyn Patel added one single and one RBI and Cash Leonard with one single.

For CARSTAR, Payton Oeth went 2-for-3 with a single, double and three RBIs. Baylor Jackson had one double and three RBIs while Jett Storm added one single and one RBI.
