Vinson tosses 1-hit shutout against Otterville

The Pilot Grove Tigers baseball team had a good start to the 2021 season Friday night after beating the Otterville Eagles 13-0 in five innings.

The Tigers, 1-0 on the season, scored in every inning against the Eagles and led 4-0 after one, 6-0 after two and 11-0 after three before adding two more runs in the fourth.

Pilot Grove also got great pitching from senior Bo Vinson, who struck out 14 batters in five innings while giving up just one hit.

As for the hitting, Dade Christy and Connor Rhorer each had three hits in the game for Pilot Grove. Christy went 3-for-4 with two singles, one triple and two RBIs, while Rhorer had three singles and two RBIs. Levi Jeffries finished the game with one triple and two RBIs, while Vinson added one double. Tate Rentel singled and drove in two runs, while Hayden Sleeper added one single and one RBI and Hank Zeller and Gage Young each with one single.

Eads took the loss for Otterville by giving up 11 runs on 10 hits and three walks in 2 2/3 innings.

Wilfong had the only hit in the game for Otterville, being a single.
