The Boonville Pirates football team and the Lady Pirates softball team will be going on the road to participate in Jamborees in a kickoff to the 2021 season.

The Pirates football team, coming off a 6-4 campaign last fall under head coach Greg Hough, will travel to Moberly on Friday, August 20 for a five-team jamboree.

The games will be held at Larry K. Noel Spartan Stadium, starting at 6 p.m.

According to the report sent by Moberly Athletic Director Curtis Walk, each team will play 18 offensive and 18 defensive plays against two schools per MSHSAA guidelines. He said the jamboree must treat a five-team jamboree like a three-team jamboree per guidelines, so each school will play two schools and will run 18 plays against each school. “We will keep down and distance,” Walk said. “If you do not get a first down on the first three plays the ball will return to the 40-yard line. Once you are first and goal inside the 10-yard line you will have four downs to score. If the offensive team scores the ball returns to the 40-yard line. If the defense forces a turnover the offensive team will regain possession at the 40-yard line. The ball cannot be advanced and will be blown dead on all turnovers.”

The schedule for the jamboree is as follows:

North end (scoreboard)

Chillicothe vs. Hallsville, 6 p.m.

Boonville vs. Hallsville, 6:45 p.m.

South End

Centralia vs. Moberly, 6 p.m.

Chillicothe vs. Centralia, 6:45 p.m.

Boonville vs. Moberly, 7:15 p.m.

Note: Concession will be open and run by the Moberly Booster Club. The admission is $3 for adults, $2 students, under 6 and over 65 free.

The Boonville Pirates football team will officially kick off the season on Friday, August 27 at Pleasant Hill, starting at 7p.m.
