Burnett, Alpers combine for 2-hit shutout in 16-0 rout against Stover

Prairie Home’s Jason Burnett did his part Monday night against Stover.

While pitching a two-hit shutout in only three innings, Burnett also finished the game 3-for-3 with two doubles, one triple and four RBIs in a 16-0 victory.

The Panthers, improving to 8-6 on the season, opened the game with two runs in the first and then sent eight runs across in the second and six again in the third to win by the mercy rule.

In three innings pitched for Prairie Home, Burnett struck out seven batters while giving up just two hits and one walk.

Prairie Home also out-hit Stover 12-2, with Blane Petsel going 3-for-4 with one single, two doubles and three RBIs. Dillon Alpers finished the game with two singles and one RBI, while Oliver Lock added two singles and four RBIs, Garrison Parkhurst with one double and two RBIs, and Layne Brandes with one single and one RBI.

Gray, who finished with both of the team’s hits with two singles, was also the losing pitcher in the game for Stover.
