Mexico Missouri man arrested in Illinois in connection with killing

From staff and wire reports
Deyton Fisher, charged with second degree murder for a June 27 shooting in Mexico, was arrested Saturday in Quincy, Ill.

QUINCY, Ill. — A Missouri man is now in custody in connection with a June homicide during a home break-in, after being arrested in Illinois.

WGEM-TV reported that 22-year-old Deyton Fisher of Mexico, Missouri, was arrested early Saturday in Quincy, Illinois. Fisher is charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and burglary.

Fisher was one of three people wanted for a crime that happened June 27 in Mexico. Police said 25-year-old Chance Davis was killed that morning during a break-in at his home.

Davis was killed at about 4:41 a.m. June 27 in the 800 block of West Street after a person forcibly entered a residence, shooting Davis. The Mid-Missouri Major Case Squad was activated and participated in the investigation through June 29.

In addition to Fisher, charges have been filed against Timothy Midgyett, 25, who has a Columbia address in state court records, and Sadiq Moore, 23, who is listed as having a Kirksville address.

Neither has been arrested.

After charges were filed against the three on July 20, a Mexico Public Safety Department news release stated that officers believed the trio currently were in the area of Quincy, Illinois.

The Pike County, Illinois, Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle July 15 believed to be driven by Midgyett, who drove away from officers while they were trying to identify the vehicle’s passenger. Officers lost the vehicle after a pursuit. The investigation indicated Moore was the passenger, according to the release.
