Boonville sophomore Addison Brownfield and junior Jodie Bass both had big nights Friday night against Hallsville in the semifinal round of the Southern Boone Classic in Ashland.
Brownfield finished the game with 25 points, seven steals, five assists and four rebounds while Bass added 17 points, two rebounds and one steal in a 64-40 win over Hallsville.
Playing the Lady Indians for the third time this season, Boonville left little doubt just like the previous two meetings while leading Hallsville 21-4 after one, 41-12 at the half and 57-26 after three quarters of play.
Hallsville held a 14-7 advantage in the final period.
Boonville girls coach Jaryt Hunziker said the previous two times the Lady Pirates played Hallsville this season, they  jumped out to an early lead helping set the tempo for the game.
“We did the same thing tonight jumping out to a 21-4 lead after first quarter behind combined 17 points from Jodie and Addi,” Hunziker said. “We did a better job of attacking their zone tonight by getting into the middle of their 2-3 zone by the dribble and pass which created opportunities for us to get kick outs, dump downs and pull-up jump shots.
“Defensively we applied lots of pressure which helped us get deflections, steals and also hurried them into quick shots. Hallsville didn’t seem to get into rhythm until the second half but by then we already had too large of lead.”
Kourtney Kendrick finished the game with nine points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals while Sophi Waibel added seven points, four steals, three rebounds and one assist, Brooke Eichelberger two points, six rebounds and one steal, Kennedy Renfrow two points, five assists, two rebounds and one steal and Emma West with two points, six rebounds, one assist and one steal. Faith Mesik had three rebounds off the bench while Daylynn Baker pulled down one rebound.
The Lady Pirates also finished the game, hitting 24 of 55 shots from the field for 44 percent, 8 of 24 from the three point line for 33 percent and 8 of 12 from the foul line for 67 percent.
Crane had 12 points in the game for Hallsville while Oetting chipped in 11.
