The Bunceton/Prairie Home girls and Prairie Home/Bunceton boys basketball teams picked up a sweep Thursday night at home by beating the La Monte Vikings, 71-56 and 67-46, respectively.
The Lady Dragons, improving to 12-6 overall, outscored La Monte in three out of four quarters of play and led 37-32 at the half and 55-41 after three quarters of play. Bunceton also outscored La Monte 16-15 in the final period.
“We were able to secure another team win,” said Bunceton coach Dustin Ray. “After several days off from games we came out and made some mistakes early, but this team always finds a way to grind when they need.  Very pleased with their effort and desire to win.”
Chloe Moser finished the game with a double-double for Bunceton with 15 points and 12 rebounds. She also had two steals and one assist.
Kelsey Watson chipped in 13 points, nine assists, three steals and one rebound while Maggie Wood added 12 points, seven assists, three rebounds and three steals, Ashlyn Twenter nine points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals, Madelynn Myers nine points and three rebounds, Cara Bishop four points, eight rebounds, one steal and one assist, Maddie Brandes three points, three rebounds and one assist, Madison Brown three points and one rebound, Savanna Tracy two points and one steal and Reagan Triebsch with one point.
For La Monte, Claire Oehrke had 24 points and Aubrey Oehrke with 17.
As for the Prairie Home boys, who improved to 11-7 on the season, they also led La Monte from start to finish by taking a 39-19 lead at the half. The Panthers also outscored the Vikings 28-27 in the second half.
“We came out and got back to playing good basketball tonight,” said Prairie Home coach Trever Huth. “We moved the ball really well and the assist stat line really shows that. We picked it back up on the defensive as well, creating turnovers and working hard to keep them out of the paint. It was good to get a bounce back win.”
Clayton Pethan led four players in double figures for Prairie Home with 13 points. Pethan also pulled down 12 rebounds for a double-double while dishing out four assists and grabbing three steals.
Kassen Lock finished the game with 11 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals while Hunter Shuffield added 11 points, four rebounds and one steal, Jason Burnett 10 points, three rebounds, two steals and two assists, Ty Stidham eight points, three rebounds and one assist, Alex Rhode eight points, six rebounds and one steal and Blane Petsel with two points, seven assists, three steals and two rebounds.
For La Monte, Jaden Harshner had 16 points and Logan Mahin with 14.
