The Ss. Peter & Paul boys eighth grade basketball team closed out the 2019 season by beating St. Peters of Marshall 33-14 last Friday in Boonville.
The Warriors, who finished the season at 3-11 overall, led St. Peters 12-2 after one, 18-8 at the half and 27-8 after three quarters of play. Meanwhile, in the fourth quarter, Ss. Peter & Paul matched St. Peters of Marshall with six points.
Ss. Peter & Paul coach Joe Herzog said the boys had not played in eight days so there was concern with how they would perform.
“We had a good burst of energy from Ross Brackman putting pressure on the ball and getting some layups on the other end,” Herzog said. “Levi Jeffries shot the ball extremely well and Rhodes Leonard and Ben Lutz did a great job rebounding. Henry Rohrbach rebounded and ran the offense as asked. Kennedy Griffy had one of his better offensive nights and Eli Stock played his tough nosed defense as always.  Dalton Johnson and Adam played very good defense causing multiple turnovers for more buckets.  Overall a good performance for the boys last game as eighth graders.  It was a joy to coach them and wish them the best in the future.”
Brackman led all scorers for Ss. Peter & Paul with eight points along with five steals, two rebounds and two assists.
Jeffries finished the game with seven points, three rebounds, two steals and two assists while Leonard had six points, four rebounds and one steal, Rohrbach four points, five rebounds and two steals, Griffy also with four points, four rebounds and one steal, Lutz with two points, six rebounds and two steals, Stock with two points and three rebounds and Luis Green with two rebounds, one steal and one assist.
