Boonville senior Sam Esser is currently member of the Pirates soccer team.
A two-sport athlete, Esser plays backline for the Pirates in soccer and guard in basketball.

In three sentences, explain what you enjoy most about playing your sport and athletics?
I enjoy the companionship between teammates and the bonds that will last a lifetime. I also enjoy just being competitive at all times.
What is one of your most memorable moments in soccer?
Scoring a game-winning penalty kick in my first soccer game ever against Father Tolton my freshman year.
What are the greatest challenges balancing academics and sports?
It’s just difficult to keep  motivated to do your homework or study for a test when you just got home after a game.
What are your individual goals for the 2019 season?
To lead this team the best I can and to make the all-district team.
What are your plans beyond school?
I want to become a financial advisor.
Outside of sports and school activities, what kind of things do you like to do?
I like to play the piano and spend quality time with my friends.
What are your plans after high school graduation?
To go to Mizzou and major in business.
