The Boonville Pirates soccer team won its first first mercy of the season Tuesday night by beating the Moberly Spartans 8-0.
The Pirates, 4-2-1 on the season, opened the first half with a 4-0 lead against Moberly with two goals from senior Will Rehagen and one each from Avery Shaw and Quin Gentry. Meanwhile, in the second half, Rehagen picked up his third goal of the game at the 65 minute mark and later added a fourth at the 75 minute mark to stop the match. Kameron Desmond and Josh Chrisman also scored in the second half for Boonville.
Boonville coach Kaz Hazell said the boys moved the ball well and scored early in the first half to go up 4-0. “Will had a big night with four of the eight goals and also finished with a hat trick,” Hazell said. “Avery Shaw had his first career varsity goal, and Josh Chrisman had a beautiful finish on a free kick from 30 yards out. Quin Gentry and Kameron Desmond also got their first goals on the season.”
Boonville finished the match with 15 shot attempts and seven shots on goal while Moberly had four shot attempts and two shots on goal.
Senior goalie Gabe Lorenz had six saves in the match.
Angel Garcia and Kameron Desmond each had two assists for Boonville while Isaac Marriott and Jimi Barbarotta each had one assist.
Boonville also won the JV match 2-0 to improve to 1-3 on the season.
Tucker Lorenz scored Boonville’s first goal at the 8 minute mark in the first half while Kameron Desmond added the second at the 23 minute mark. Both goals were unassisted.
The Pirates also had six shot attempts and two shots on goal while Moberly had six shot attempts.
Sophomore goalie Gabe Brimer had three saves in the match.
