The LSE Pirates eighth grade football team evened its season record to 1-1 by beating California 14-6.
All of the scoring came in the first half as the Pirates put up one touchdown and a two point conversion in the first quarter and one touchdown in the second quarter. California scored its only touchdown in the second quarter.
Xavier Flippin led all rushers for LSE with 15 carries for 108 yards. Rhodes Leonard finished the game with seven carries for 92 yards and three catches for 127 yards and two scores. Dakota Troost had nine carries for 52 yards and completed one pass for 48 yards and one score. Andrew Rhorer, meanwhile, had three carries for 10 yards and was 2 of 4 passing for 79 yards and one score.
On defense, Flippin had 11 solos and two assists while Will Stock added nine solos, three assists and two sacks, Rhodes Leonard eight solos, Dakota Troost six solos, Lawson Edwards three solos and two assists, Andrew Rhorer and Abram Taylor each with four solos and Langston Hall with three solos.
In the seventh grade game, California defeated LSE 24-0.
Austin Downing had five carries for 52 yards to lead the Pirates, 0-2.
On defense, Cooper Pfeiffer finished the game with seven solo tackles and three assists.
