The Boonville Pirates JV football team evened its season record to 2-2 by beating the California Pintos Monday night at Gene Reagan field in Boonville 39-16.
The Pirates never trailed in the game against California and led 19-9 at the half and 25-16 after three quarters of play. Boonville also put up two touchdowns in the final quarter.
Boonville JV coach Seth Brimer said this was the most complete game the team has played thus far. “The offensive line and defensive line played extremely well,” Brimer said. “They really set the tone 4 the entire game. Hopefully we can build off this win and get back it this week as we prepare for Osage."
Sophomore quarterback Jamesian McKee finished the game for Boonville with nine carries for 89 yards and one touchdown and 7 of 13 passing for 109 yards and two scores.
Hunter Pethan led the team in rushing with seven carries for 92 yards and one touchdown while DaWan Lomax had seven carries for 40 yards and one score, Spencer Steakley four carries for 19 yards and one score and Michael DeLeon with six carries for 9 yards.
Lomax also had three receptions for 64 yards while Luke Green had two catches for 20 yards and one touchdown, Landon Williams one catch for 18 yards and one score and Pethan with one catch for 7 yards.
On defense, Mar’Quise Coleman and Peyton Hahn each had six total tackles. Connor Acton finished the game with five tackles, followed by Landon Williams, Max Eckerle, Zane Watring and Trent Maxwell each with four tackles, Huston Force, Spencer Steakley, Ethan Watson, Dustyn Taylor and Gaige Offineer with three tackles each, Jordan Pinkett and Cole Mackey with two tackles and Edrissa Bah and Jamesian McKee with one tackle.
Hahn also had four tackles for loss while Acton had three, Taylor two and Williams, Steakley and Offineer each with one. Acton and Hahn also had one sack each while Williams finished the game with two fumble recoveries and Coleman with one fumble recovery.
