The Boonville Lady Pirates golf team had one of those matches Thursday night at Hail Ridge Golf Course in Boonville.
Hosting Father Tolton and Blair Oaks, the Lady Pirates fell on the short end against both opponents. Father Tolton won the match with a score of 170, followed by Blair Oaks at 199 and Boonville at 201.
Junior Jayden Berrey had the low score for the meet with a 2-over par 37.
Father Tolton had the top three scores in the meet with Berry, Madeline Follis with a score of 41 and Ali Goldon with a score of 43.
Samantha Backus had the low score for Blair Oaks with a 9-over par 44. Boonville’s Zoey Lang and Elliott Hull of Blair Oaks rounded out the top five with a score of 48.
The loss drops Boonville to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the Tri-County Conference.
“One of the things we are working on daily is to become consistent individually,” said Boonville golf coach Rob VanderLinden. “Some of our players were 5 to 6 strokes worse today while some were that much better. Sophomore Rayghan Skoufos shot a career best 51 and Julianne Bromagan also had a career best 53. We are such a young team that I know we are going to have some ups and downs throughout the season. Our team score was just 3 strokes worse than Tuesday but that was enough to cause a loss. Father Tolton is always one of the top teams in the state but it hurt to lose by two to a conference school.”
Lang finished with two pars and two bogeys to lead Boonville.
LeGrant tallied five bogeys in the meet, followed by Rayghan Skoufos with a score of 51 with two pars and two bogeys, Julianne Bromagan 53 with two bogeys, Payten Black 54 with two bogeys, Leah Ziegelbein 60 with one bogey, Alexis Schnetzler 68 and Makenna Campbell with a score of 70.
