Olivia Eichelberger tossed a two-hit shutout in five innings, and teammates Ashlen Homan and Haylie Mendez each had two hits to lead Caterpillar past Central Bank 10-0 in Babe Ruth 16U softball Friday night at Rolling Hills park.
With the win for Caterpillar, who improved to 5-3 on the season, Eichelberger gave up just two hits and two walks while striking out four batters. Logan Root, meanwhile, took the loss in the circle for Central Bank, who dropped to 1-8, by giving up 10 runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out six batters.
Caterpillar also out-hit Central Bank 10-2, with Ashlen Homan going 2-for-3 with a single, home run and three RBIs. Haylie Mendez also had two hits, both of which went for singles. Becky Evans doubled and drove in one run while Lexi Maddex added one double, Reese Lavers with one single and one RBI and Zoey Laster, Alyssa Gross and Maylyn Sykes each with one single.
For Central Bank, Taylor Simmons and Abigail Cunningham each had one single.
