Huebert Fiberboard and Bradley Automotive finished the weekend 2-0 in the annual Cal Ripken Minor Preseason Tournament at the COCOBA ballfield.
Boonville Ready Mix and Sell’s Carpet both finished 1-1 in the tournament while Axis Seed and Einspahr Construction were both 0-2.
Of course games will officially begin this coming Saturday for opening ceremonies, with Boonville Ready Mix playing Einspahr Construction at 10 a.m., followed by Bradley Automotive versus Huebert Fiberboard at 12 noon and Axis Seed versus Sell’s Carpet at 2 p.m.
As for the games on Saturday, Huebert Fiberboard led Boonville Ready Mix from the second inning for a 9-5 victory.
With the score tied at 3-all after 1 1/2, Huebert Fiberboard came back and plated three runs in each of the second and third innings of play to go up 9-4. Boonville Ready Mix then sent one run across in the top half of the fourth to complete the scoring.
Braylen Banuet picked up the win on the mound for Huebert Fiberboard while Jaxson Stonecipher took the loss for Boonville Ready Mix.
Huebert Fiberboard also out-hit Boonville Ready Mix 3-1, with Reece Townlain and Braylen Banuet collecting one double and one RBI each. Chase Chamberlain also finished the game with one single.
For Boonville Ready Mix, Alex Ewings went 1-for-1 with one single.
In the second game, which was almost identical to the first game, Boonville Ready Mix broke a 3-3 tie after 1 1/2 by outscoring Axis Seed 4-1 for the rest of the game for a 7-4 victory.
Hayden Sandbothe was the winning pitcher in the game for Boonville Ready Mix while Isaac Herman took the loss for Axis Seed.
Boonville Ready Mix had no hits in the game while Axis Seed finished the game with two hits, with Dylan McGuire and Isaac Herman collecting one single each.
In the third game, Huebert Fiberboard scored three runs in each of the first, second, third and fourth innings of play to beat Axis Seed 12-3.
Axis Seed scored all three of its runs in the bottom half of the third.
Chase Chamberlain picked up the win on the mound for Huebert Fiberboard while Elijah Ueligger took the loss for Axis Seed.
Huebert Fiberboard also finished the game with six hits, with Chase Chamberlain going 2-for-2 with a single and a triple. Brandon Perry had one home run and one RBI while Reece Townlain added one triple and one RBI and Brayden Viertel and Clayton Imhoff each with one double and one RBI.
For Axis Seed, Isaac Herman had a single and a double while Dylan McGuire added one single.
In the fourth game, Bradley Automotive put up three runs in all four innings to beat Sell’s Carpet 12-6.
Sell’s Carpet scored two in the first, one in the second and three in the fourth to complete its scoring.
Jackson Shelton was the pitcher of record in the game for Bradley Automotive while Jason Ridgeway took the loss for Sell’s Carpet.
Bradley Automotive also out-hit Sell’s Carpet 5-0, with Landon Carter going 2-for-2 with a single, triple and three RBIs while Lyle Christy, AJ Massa and Josh Solomon added one single and one RBI each.
Sell’s Carpet failed to collect a hit against Bradley Automotive.
In the fifth game, Bradley Automotive broke a 1-1 tie after one by outscoring Einspahr Construction 6-3 over the next three innings for a 7-4 victory.
Bradley Automotive scored two in the second, three in the third and one in the fourth while Einspahr Construction put up three runs in the bottom half of the fourth.
Lyle Christy picked up the win on the mound for Bradley Automotive while Karson Elbert took the loss for Einspahr Construction.
Brylan Carter and Jackson Shelton each tripled in the game for Bradley Automotive while Lyle Christy and AJ Massa added one single each.
For Einspahr Construction, who actually out-hit Bradley Automotive 5-4, Karson Elbert went 2-for-3 with a single, triple and three RBIs. Landon Conz added a single and a double while Zander Ash finished the game with one single.
In the final game, Aiden Swanson went 2-for-2 with a single, triple and two RBIs to lead Sell’s Carpet past Einspahr Construction by a score of 9-4.
Sell’s Carpet never trailed in the game against Einspahr Construction and led 3-0 after one, 6-1 after two and 9-2 after three before giving up two runs in the fourth.
Bodie White was the winning pitcher in the game for Sell’s Carpet while Gabe Romero-Shelton took the loss for Einspahr Construction.
Sell’s Carpet also out-hit Einspahr Construction 5-3, with Maddex Jackson adding a double and two RBIs, Gavin Ridgeway with one double and Bodie White with one single.
For Einspahr Construction, Kaiden Stover and Gabe Romero-Shelton each had one triple and one RBI while Karson Elbert finished the game with one single.
