The Boonville Pirates golf team may have lost the battle Wednesday against Father Tolton but they didn’t lose their fight with four of the five golfers shooting below their average for the season.
In the final team score, Father Tolton defeated Boonville 172-181 at Lake of the Woods Golf Course in Columbia.
“Father Tolton is always a tough opponent for us and always end up in a close match,” said Boonville Pirates golf coach Rob VanderLinden. “Tonight was no different. We lost by nine strokes, but four of our five golfers shot under their average. It just wasn’t enough to get the win.”
Christian Rischer of Father Tolton was the meet medalists with a 2-over par 37.
Jake Horst of Boonville and Joseph Follis of Father Tolton tied for second with a 5-over par 40, followed by Brayden Page of Boonville with a 7-over par 42 and Parker Hartman of Father Tolton with a 12-over 47.
While finishing with the low score for Boonville, Horst recorded two birdies, two pars and three bogeys. Page finished the meet with five pars and three bogeys while Tyler Schuster shot a score of 49 with two pars and three bogeys, Cole Corbitt with a score of 50 with one par and two bogeys, Adam Schneringer also with a score of 50 with one par and three bogeys and Lucas Zeigelbein with a score of 54 with one par and one bogey.
