The Bunceton Lady Dragons softball team dropped a heartbreaker Monday night, losing to Tipton 13-12.
The Lady Dragons, 0-1-1 on the season, scratched together 12 runs on 10 hits and did all of its scoring in three innings with three in the first, five in the third and four in the fifth.
Tipton, meanwhile, opened the game with three runs and then sent three across in the second, two in the fourth, three in the fifth and two in the seventh.
“It was a good competitive game,” said Bunceton coach Ashton Hays. “Hopefully we meet up in district.”
Taylor Burnett took the loss in the circle for Bunceton despite striking out six batters in 6 1/3 innings. Burnett also gave up 13 runs on 18 hits and five walks.
As for the hitting in the game for Bunceton, Burnett went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Taylynn Heilman finished the game with two hits and drove in two runs while Cara Bishop added two singles and one RBI. Abby Young had a grand slam home run while driving in four runs. Autumn Bishop and Chloe Moser each had one hit while Amaris Vaca drove in one run.
