One day after shooting perhaps their worst score of the season at Moberly, the Boonville Pirates golf team followed it up with one of its best scores Wednesday in a dual against the Mexico Bulldogs at Hail Ridge Golf Course.
Boonville won the match by 36 strokes over Mexico, 174-210.
“The kids played much better tonight and shot a team score of 174-a season low for us,” said Boonville coach Rob VanderLinden. “This was a good recovery from Tuesday’s match, where we shot a season high. Jake Horst led the team with a score of 40-a career low score from him. Brayden Page followed with a 42. It was good to get back into the winning column after suffering defeats in the last two matches. Our top four golfers all shot below their averages. This was a good way to end this part of the season and start tournament play next week. We travel to play in the Grain Valley Tournament on Monday, followed by the Boonville Masters held on Thursday and Friday. Thursday is the varsity tournament that will consist of 10 teams coming in to play and Friday we also have 10 teams coming in for the JV Tournament.”
As for the top individual medalists, Jake Horst finished the match with a 5-over par 40 with five pars and three bogeys.
Boonville had the top four scores in the dual.
Brayden Page had the next lowest score with a 7-over par 42 with four pars and three bogeys, followed by Adam Schneringer with a score of 45 with two pars and four bogeys, Cole Corbitt with a score of 47 with one par and five bogeys and Mason Carver of Mexico with a score of 51.
Other scores for Boonville had Grady Baker with a round of 53 with one bogey, Tyler Schuster 55 with one par and two bogeys and Lucas Ziegelbein 59 with one bogey.
