The Ss. Peter & Paul girls seventh grade basketball team was about as perfect as a team could get after pitching a shutout against Jefferson Middle School Monday night in Boonville 36-0.
As for the Ss. Peter & Paul girls eighth grade basketball team, they fell against Jefferson Middle School 41-21.
The Lady Warriors seventh grade basketball team, 4-3 on the season, opened the first half with a 17-0 lead against Jefferson and then outscored the visiting team 19-0 in the final two periods.
Ss. Peter & Paul coach Sarah Ronnfeldt said this was the best defensive game these girls have played overall. “They worked together and got a shutout,” Ronnfeldt said. “That is not easy to do. All eight of our girls played as a team and were a huge contributor to the overall game.”
Addie Hubach definitely did her part while finishing with 15 points. Addy Nichols chipped in eight points while Alison Eichelberger added six, Allison Drummond four and Carlie Daniel with three.
In the eighth grade game, Jefferson Middle School led Ss. Peter & Paul from the opening tip and took a 20-7 lead into the half. Jefferson also outscored the Lady Warriors 21-14 in the second half.
Madison Smith led all scorers for Ss. Peter & Paul, who dropped to 6-4 on the season, with 10 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots. Abby Fuemmeler finished the game with five points, two rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots while Grace Williams added four points and one rebound, Katelyn Smith with two points, five rebounds, one steal and one blocked shot, Zoey Lang with four rebounds and one steal and Leah Ziegelbein with two rebounds.
