The Ss. Peter & Paul boys seventh grade basketball team had a tough night on the road against St. Pius, losing by a score of 35-23.
The Warriors trailed St. Pius 18-4 at the half and 28-11 after three quarters of play before rallying back with a 12-7 advantage in the final period.
“I am very proud of the way we played,” said Ss. Peter & Paul coach Evan Oswald. “We played against a much bigger team, made up of mostly eighth graders. We were a little sluggish at first, because our seventh grade bunch had been off for over a week. Had it not been for the rough first half offensively, we would have had a better chance at beating St Pius. We played extremely well defensively, just couldn’t hit enough shots early. If we keep that effort up, we will continue to be a solid ball team.”
Henry Rohrbach led all scorers for Ss. Peter & Paul with eight points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Levi Jeffries finished the game with seven points, three steals and two rebounds while Ben Lutz added four points and two rebounds, Rhodes Leonard three points and four rebounds, Luis Green with one point, Ross Brackman with four rebounds and two assists and Chase Amos with two rebounds.
