The Boonville boys freshmen basketball team improved to 4-1 on the season by beating Marshall Monday night at the Windsor gymnasium 44-33.
After playing to a 8-8 tie in the first quarter, the Pirates came out and outscored Marshall 18-5 in the second to lead at the half by a score of 26-13. Meanwhile, in the second half, Boonville outscored Marshall 15-9 in the third to extend the lead to 39-22. However in the fourth quarter, the Owls rallied back with a 11-3 scoring edge to win the game by 11.
Boonville freshmen coach Paul Stevens said the boys are finding their stride and played well together. “I’m glad everyone got to play in our home game, they played with great effort and focus,” Stevens said.
Tyson Franklin led all scorers for Boonville with 24 points. Jamesian McKee chipped in nine while Memphis Waibel and DaWan Lomax added three, Gabe Brimer and Gabe Thoma each with two and Blaine Goetze with one.
