The LSE Pirates wrestling team closed out its season over the weekend while competing in the Carrollton Tournament.
While the Pirates finished the tournament with an overall record of 18-16 overall, head coach Summer Young said the team had an excellent day of wrestling. “Tyson White and Xavier Flippin went undefeated, both showing impressive performances,” Young said. “Ryan Dell was fund to watch, as he was able to put pieces he has been working on together to let his success shine. Abram Taylor also had a successful day, winning against another wrestler that had beat him twice before. Audrionnah Donahue fell short today in three matches, but was never pinned and that is something to be proud of. Wrestling isn’t an easy sport, but I have to say that this season I have had kids with the most heart. They have all been willing to put in the time and work to improve and shown success. We worked hard this year learning the basics and trying to figure out how to master their favorite and successful moves. I am so proud to have coached these guys and girls and I look forward to have them all but Caleb Martin again next year.”
Tyson White finished 4-0 on the day to garner first in the 110 pound weight class while Xavier Flippin also finished undefeated at 3-0 for first place in the 136 pound weight class. Caleb Martin also placed first with a record of 3-1 in the 111 pound weight class while Ryan Dell and Abram Taylor both finished second with 3-1 records at 114 and 146, respectively. Audrionnah Donahue and Gage Hodges also had identical 1-3 records in their respective weight classes while Ryder Comegys participated in the 143 pound weight class.

LSE Pirates wrestling coach Summer Young said tonight was a good night of wrestling. “Tyson White and Caleb Martin both went undefeated,” Young said. “Abram Taylor had an exciting match, winning 5-3 in overtime. All my wrestlers did good tonight; even the matches we lost has great things come out of them. Our season is slowly coming to an end.”
