The Ss. Peter & Paul girls eighth grade volleyball team improved to 11-3 on the season by beating Southern Boone in two straight Monday night in Ashland 25-23 and 25-20.
Ss. Peter & Paul coach Dina Herzog said although the girls have been inning their level of play is not where it needs to be to beat the good teams. “Zoey Lang severed well in the second set so we could bring home the win,” Herzog said.
Lang finished the match for the Lady Warriors with six digs, five aces and four kills.
Abby Fuemmeler had seven assists, two digs, one ace and one kill while Madison Smith added five kills, two digs and one ace, Kylee Turner with two aces, two assists, two kills and two digs, Katelyn Smith with five kills, Grace Williams with two assists and one kill and Addie Hubach with one ace, one kill and one dig.
In the B-team match, Ss. Peter & Paul won in two straight sets 25-20 and 25-21.
Herzog said the girls played well enough for the win. “We struggled a little with receiving and serving,” Herzog said. “They continue to work together to get the win.”
Ava Esser had a big game for the Lady Warriors with seven service points with five aces, nine assists and four kills.
Addy Nichols finished the match with eight kills and four service points while Kelli Young added four kills, three service points with two aces and one assist, Allison Drummond with six kills and one assist, Bailey Atkinson with five assists and one service point with one ace and Alison Eichelberger and Sydney Nowlin each with one service point.
