Will play Monday, Oct. 8th at Ste. Genevieve Golf Club
Boonville golfers Olivia Reynolds, Alisa Newbold and Iris Ehrengren will play for another day after finishing as one of the top 21 golfers during the Class 1 District 2 Tournament at Redfield Golf and Country Club in Eugene.
Reynolds finished 12th overall with a 21 over par 93 while Newbold placed 18th with a score of 101 and Ehrengren 21st with a score of 103.
The trio will advance to the Class 1 Sectional 1 Tournament on Monday, Oct. 8th at Ste. Genevieve Golf Club.
Boonville Lady Pirates golf coach Rob VanderLinden said the girls played their best golf of the season as a team by shooting 20 strokes better than any other tournament this year. “I thought the girls played really well on a difficult course and I was happy with the scores they posted,” VanderLinden said. “Part of district golf is the luck of the draw when it comes to what district a team gets placed in. For the third year in a row, we were placed in the toughest district. The cut to our district was 103, which was between 4 and 22 strokes lower than the other seven districts. Three of the districts, all five of our golfers would have advanced.”
VanderLinden said Reynolds was the only medalist for the Lady Pirates.
In the final team standings, Father Tolton captured first with a score of 366. Mexico finished second at 377, followed by Southern Boone at 383, Blair Oaks at 391, Boonville at 403, St. Francis Borgia at 412, Centralia at 463, California at 467, Fulton at 487, St. Clair at 489 and New Bloomfield at 497.
As for the individual champion, Eldon’s Kylah Gore finished first with a 7-over par 79.
Lillian Grace Knipfel of Mexico, meanwhile, finished a close second with a 8-over par 80.
For the remaining Boonville golfers, Mille Dorman placed 24th overall with a score of 106 while Jalyn Schnetzler finished the tournament with a score of 115.
