The New Franklin Lady Bulldogs softball team had two things go wrong Monday night on the road against Community R-6.
Along with playing short-handed against Community R-6, head coach Ross Dowell said the Lady Bulldogs also played with no energy while losing by a score of 16-1 in three innings.
“Same old story,” Dowell said. “We had too many walks and errors. I’m very disappointed in our effort. We’ll regroup and get ready for another conference game against Glasgow.”
Anne Benner took the loss for New Franklin, who dropped to 2-7 overall and 1-2 in the CAC, by giving up seven runs on four hits and eight walks in two innings. Benner also had one strikeout. Abby Maupin then came in and pitched one inning in relief and allowed nine runs on five hits and six walks.
Maupin also had the only extra base hit in the game for New Franklin, being a triple. Haley Washburn, meanwhile, finished the game with one single.
