Bailey pitches a no-hit shutout while Wolfe goes 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs and four RBIs.
The Pilot Grove Lady Tigers softball team had 10 extra base hits, and pitcher Samarah Bailey no-hit Russellville for five innings Monday night in a 11-0 win at Russellville.
The Lady Tigers, improving to 9-2 on the season, scored in all but one inning against Russellville and led 3-0 after one, 6-0 after three and 9-0 after four before pushing across two more runs in the fifth.
“We were able to put up three runs in the top of the first inning to set the pace for the game,” said Pilot Grove coach Neal Bailey. “From there our defense played well behind good pitching. We are taking good at bats, and producing through the lineup.”
As for Bailey, the senior hurler improved to 8-2 on the season by striking out 12 batters in five innings. She also had a rare walk.
The Lady Tigers also had one of their best hitting performances to date, with Melanie Wolfe going 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs and four RBIs.
Emily Schupp also finished the game with three hits with two doubles and one triple while Natalie Rentel added two doubles and one RBI, Reagan McFatrich with one double and two RBIs, Bailey with one double and one RBI and Abby Schupp with one single.
