Although several games have already taken place in Cal Ripken Minor, there is nothing like opening day where all the teams lineup on the ballfield to officially start the season.
Of course there was also baseball to be played in both Minor and Major, which began at 9 a.m. and didn’t finish until close to 10 p.m.
Sunny skies and warmer weather also made it almost a perfect day.
As for the winners on Day 1, Bradley Automotive picked up where they left off in the preseason tournament by beating Axis Seed 9-5.
Although Axis Seed led at one point 5-4 after 3 1/2, it was pretty much all Bradley Automotive after that with three runs in the fourth and two again in the fifth for the victory.
Jailyn Patel picked up the win on the mound for Bradley Automotive while Aden Rapp took the loss for Axis Seed.
Bradley Automotive also out-hit Axis Seed 6-4, with Baylor Jackson going 3-for-3 with three singles and one RBI. Payton Oeth had two singles and one RBI while Jailyn Patel added one single.
For Axis Seed, Landry Timm went 3-for-3 with three singles while Seth Thomas had one single. Wade Frederick also drove in one run.
In the second game, Boonville Daily News defeated Central Realty 14-8.
Boonville Daily News opened the game with three in the first and never looked back, adding five more in the third, two in the fourth and four in the fifth.
Darrin Leonard picked up the win on the mound for Boonville Daily News while Cash Leonard took the loss for Central Realty.
Boonville Daily News also had eight hits in the game, with Jackson Shelton going 2-for-2 with two singles and one RBI. Haden Oliver doubled and drove in four runs while Shawn Beach-Reasons added a double and two RBIs, Brylan Carter with one double and one RBI, Brooks Poulsen and Lyle Christy each with one single and one RBI and Darrin Leonard with one single.
For Central Realty, Logan Conz went 2-for-2 with a single and a double. Cash Leonard homered and drove in two runs while Grayson Esser added a double, Ethan Bean one single and two RBIs and Jason Fizer with one single.
In the final game in Minor, A-Bow-K edged Huebert Fiberboard 13-12.
Huebert Fiberboard led 11-7 after three but then gave up six in the top-half of the fourth to suffer the loss.
Kailen Vaca was the winning pitcher in the game for A-Bow-K while Alexander Ewings took the loss for Huebert Fiberboard.
Chase Chamberlain had two of the team’s five hits for A-Bow-K with double, home run and three RBIs. Reece Townlain doubled and drove in three runs while Kaden Thacker added one single and two RBIs and Braylon Banuet with one single.
For Huebert Fiberboard, Aiden Meyers went 2-for-3 with a single, triple and one RBI. Lucas Schuster had one triple and while Alexander Ewings added a single and one RBI, Hayden Sandbothe, Josiah Hand, Quinten Knipp and Oliver Prenger each with one single and Khale Bohlken and Thomas Wood each with two RBIs.
In the first game in Major, Central Bank Boone Bank led Sell’s Carpet from start to finish for a 15-8 victory.
CBBC opened the game with three runs in the first and then sent two runs across in each of the second and third innings of play, six in the fourth and two in the fifth.
Jaeshua Barber picked up the win on the mound for CBBC while Sawyer Felten took the loss for Sell’s Carpet.
CBBC also out-hit Sell’s Carpet 9-5, with Connor Wilmsmeyer going 3-for-4 with three singles and one RBI.
Jaeshua Barber had two singles and three RBIs while Blake Griffin added a double, Tyson White one single and three RBIs, Rhodes Leonard one single and one RBI, Chase Amos one single and Isaac Watring with one RBI.
For Sell’s Carpet, Ryder Comegys doubled and drove in one run. Noah Remlinger had one single and two RBIs while Treyton Ginter added one single and one RBI, Edrissa Bah-Lamb and Lance Haynes each with one single and Eli Stock with one RBI.
In the second game, Rt. B Cafe scored 11 unanswered runs in the first-three innings to win by the mercy rule over Einspahr Construction 14-4.
Dakota Williams picked up the win on the mound for Rt. B Cafe while Henry Rohrbach took the loss for Einspahr Construction.
Rt. B Cafe also finished the game with 13 hits, with Abram Taylor going 4-for-5 with three singles, one double and five RBIs. Cash Valencia was 3-for-4 with three singles and one RBI while Eric Kearns also had three singles, Dakota Williams with one single, one double and one RBI, Jefferson Day with one single and one RBI and Thomas Elliott with one RBI.
For Einspahr Construction, Ben Lutz went 2-for-3 with a single, double and two RBIs. Justin Lawrence also had two hits while Henry Rohrbach added a single and one RBI and Daviohn Klearman with one single.
In the final game in Major, Tint Shop defeated CARSTAR 14-4 in four innings.
Although CARSTAR led at one point 2-1 after 1 1/2, it was all Tint Shop after that with a 13-2 advantage.
Bentley Turner was the winning pitcher in the game for Tint Shop while Tate Rentel took the loss for CARSTAR.
Tint Shop also had seven hits in the game, with Ethan Watson going 2-for-2 with a single, home run and four RBIs.
Will Stock had one triple and three RBIs while Gage Hodges added one double, Christian Kosky with one single and one RBI, Bentley Turner and Christian Siegel each with one single and Zander Schuster with one RBI.
For CARSTAR, Caidyn Hazel went 2-for-2 with a double, triple and one RBI. Trenton Schoen finished the game with one double while Austin Comstock had one RBI.
