New Franklin’s Davi Smith cleared a height of 4’-10” to capture first in the high jump during the Glasgow Relays on Friday.
Mallori Burnett finished second in the 3200 in 14:43.53 and third in the 1600 in 6:16.51 for the Lady Bulldogs.
For the New Franklin boys, Tyler Perkins finished third in the 800 in 2:22.02 and then ran a leg on the 4 x 800-meter relay team along with David Brucks, Asa Fischer and Luke Paddock, which finished third in 9:42.46.
New Franklin coach Adam Quest said due to other school conflicts, most of the girls team was not present at the Glasgow Relays.
“We only had three girls in attendance at the meet,” Quest said. “But that didn’t stop the girls that were there from putting in some stellar performances. Junior Davi Smith had a wonderful high jump competition. However, the highlight of our day was the boys 4 x 800 relay. We started a new lineup at this meet, and it immediately paid dividends. With just this one solid performance, we have put ourselves into a great spot heading into districts in this event.”
