Blane Petsel went 3-for-4 with three singles and four runs batted in to lead Prairie Home past Higbee 18-4 in CCAA action Friday night at Higbee.
The Panthers, improving to 6-4-1 on the season, scored in every inning against Higbee but trailed 4-3 after two before rallying with seven in the third, three in the fourth and five in the fifth for the win.
Prairie Home coach Trever Huth said the boys played a good game overall. “In the second inning we took a couple of steps back and let them take the lead and from there we kind of found our way,” Huth said. “We need to work on hustling everything out and trying to get any extra base we can. For a little bit we played down to our competition and that’s something that we have to hold ourselves accountable for, along with playing a full game of clean baseball without any errors in the field. Other than that we came ready to hit and got back to moving runners over and scoring runners when we needed to. A good win to get us back on track.”
Creed Flood picked up the win on the mound for Prairie Home while Ernie Boggs took the loss for Higbee. Flood pitched all five innings and struck out seven batters while giving up four runs on four hits and three walks.
Billy Kellum finished the game with a single, double and four RBIs for Prairie Home while Flood and Mason Wells added a double and one RBI each, Blake Petsel and Anthony Davis each with one single and two RBIs, Kassen Lock with one single and one RBI, Clayton Pethan with one single and Alex Rhode with two RBIs.
James Gibson and William Gibson each had one double for Higbee.
