Cooper Pfeiffer led a nine hit attack with two singles, one double and two RBIs as Axis Seed knocked off Schlotzhauer Auto 14-4 in Cal Ripken Minor Thursday night at the COCOBA field.
In the nightcap, Tint Shop exploded for 22 runs on just four hits for a 22-12 win over Rt. B Cafe.
Axis Seed, improving to 2-1 on the season, appeared to have its hands full early on while playing Schlotzhauer Auto to a 3-3 tie after 3 1/2. However over the next-two innings, Axis Seed outscored Schlotzhauer Auto 11-1 to win by the mercy rule.
Aiden Rapp picked up the win in relief for Axis Seed while Kaleb Arnold took the loss for Schlotzhauer Auto. Rapp pitched one inning in relief of starter Evan Bishop and gave up two runs on one hit and two walks while striking out two batters. Arnold, meanwhile, pitched one inning in relief of starter Jaeshua Barber and allowed four runs on two hits and two walks while striking out two batters.
Axis Seed also out-hit Schlotzhauer Auto 9-1, with Evan Bishop going 2-for-2 with one triple and one RBI. Aiden Rapp finished the game with a single, double and three RBIs while Clayton Schuster added one double and three RBIs, Seth Thomas with one single and Wade Frederick with one RBI.
Schlotzhauer Auto had only one hit in the ballgame.
In the nightcap, Rt. B Cafe led Tint Shop 8-4 after three complete innings before giving up 18 runs in the top-half of the fourth to suffer the loss.
Zack Espey was the winning pitcher in the game for Tint Shop, who improved to 2-1, while Jailyn Patel took the loss for Rt. B Cafe. Espey pitched 1 2/3 innings in relief and gave up four runs on one hit and four walks while striking out four batters. Patel, meanwhile, started the game for Rt. B Cafe and pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed four runs on three hits and two walks while striking out seven batters.
Tint Shop also had four hits in the ballgame led by Gage Hodges with one single, one triple and three RBIs. Lucas Joy finished the game with one single and two RBIs while Max Rapp added one single and one RBI, Beau Walker, Zack Espey, Lucas Joy and Aiden Meyers each with two RBIs and Alec Schupp with one RBI.
For Rt. B Cafe, who dropped to 2-1 on the season, Dakota Troost  went 2-for-3 with two home runs and three RBIs. Baylor Jackson was 2-for-3 with one double and three RBIs while Ethan Henderson also doubled in the game.
