Tint Shop held off a rally in the final inning to beat Schlotzhauer Auto in Cal Ripken Minor Wednesday night at the COCOBA field.
Tint Shop, improving to 1-1 on the season, led Schlotzhauer Auto 12-5 after three before giving up five in the fourth and one again in the fifth.
Beau Walker picked up the win on the mound for Tint Shop by giving up five runs on six hits and five walks in 2 1/3 innings. Walker also struck out three batters.
Gage Hodges led the hitting attack in the game for Tint Shop with a single, home run and two RBIs. Lucas Schuster finished the game with a single, double and five RBIs while Zack Espey and Alec Schupp added one single and one RBI each, Beau Walker with one single and Zachary Ewings with one run batted in.
For Schlotzhauer Auto, who dropped to 1-1 on the season, Jaeshua Barber went 3-for-4 with one triple and two RBIs. Kaleb Arnold also had three hits and one RBI while Kailen Vaca added one single and one RBI, Coleman Browning and Caleb Friebe each with one single and Dylan Kosky, Edison Baker and Austin Comstock with one RBI each.
In the nightcap, Huebert Fiberboard remained unbeaten on the season in three games by turning back Boonville Daily News 16-12.
While out-hitting BDN 13-2, Huebert Fiberboard also led 7-1 after two innings and 12-10 after four before outscoring BDN 4-2 in the fifth for the victory.
Luis Green was the pitcher of record in the game for Huebert Fiberboard while Darrin Leonard took the loss for Boonville Daily News, 0-3. Green pitched the first-three innings and struck out nine batters while giving up three runs on one hit and two walks. Leonard, meanwhile, pitched three innings and allowed seven runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out two batters.
As for the hitting in the game for Huebert Fiberboard, Connor Wilmsmeyer went 3-for-3 with two doubles, one RBI and five RBIs. Logan Conz also had three hits with two singles, one triple and one RBI while Connor Gorman added one single, one double and four RBIs, Isaac Watring and Cash Leonard each with two singles and one RBI, Luis Green with one single and one RBI and Grayson Esser with one RBI.
For BDN, Rhad Leathers had a single, double and two RBIs while Darrin Leonard, Tyler Wassman, Jamal Franklin, Zeke Pritchett and Brooks Poulsen added one RBI each.
