The LSE boys and girls track teams closed out the 2017 season on a high note last week at Smith-Cotton in Sedalia by recording a total of 11 first place finishes.
LSE track coach Ashanti Williams said the team performed well. “We had many set PRs,” Williams said. “Treveon Coleman jumped a 19’-5”,  which was a goal he set early in the season along with his best 200 time. Daylynn Baker looked great in her hurdles also setting a new PR. Jodie Bass finished both relays the strongest I've seen her yet and setting a new PR in the high jump. Brant Whitakerjumped well in triple. Overall we had an awesome meet and great season.”
Winning their events at Smith-Cotton were Daylynn Baker in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.49 seconds, Jodie Bass in the 100-meter dash in 13.8 seconds and high jump at 5’-0”, Makiya West in the shot put at 32’-3”, the girls 4 x 100-meter and 4 x 200-meter relay teams of Baker, West, Bass and Hana Cook in 57.49 seconds and 2:01, respectively.
For the LSE boys, Treveon Coleman finished first in the 100 in 12.43 seconds, first in the 200 in 24.9 seconds and first in the long jump at 19’-5”. Coleman also ran a leg on the 4 x 200-meter relay team along with Hunter Pethan, DJ Wesolak and Tyson Franklin, which finished first in 1:43.5. The 4 x 100-meter relay team of Pethan, Franklin, Wesolak and Charlie Bronakowski also finished first in 50.73 seconds.
Finishing second were Makiya West in the discus at 69’-2”, Hana Cook in the shot at 31’-6”, DJ Wesolak in the 200 in 26.39 seconds and Charlie Bronakowski in the high jump at 5’-4”.
Third place finishers were the 4 x 400-meter relay team of Pethan, Darius Jones, Carter Stumph and Kameron Desmond in 4:24.35, the 4 x 800-meter relay team of Kameron Desmond, Lane West, Darius Jones and Trevor Firman in 10:47 and Brant Whitaker in the triple jump at 34’-5”.
Whitaker also took fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.92 seconds.
Finishing fifth was Hana Cook in the discus at 60’-4”, Tyson Franklin in the 200 in 27.39 seconds and Charlie Bronakowski in the triple jump at 33’-0”.
Sixth place finishers were Hunter Pethan in the 100 in 12.9 seconds and Brant Whitaker in the high jump at 4’-10”.
Eric Bundy finished seventh in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 18.25 seconds.
