The Ss. Peter & Paul girls sixth grade basketball team improved its season record to 4-6 by beating the Prairie Home Lady Panthers Saturday in Prairie Home by a score of 28-20.
The Lady Panthers outscored Prairie Home in three out of the four quarters of play and led 7-4 after one, 17-10 at the half and 25-16 after three. Meanwhile, in the final period, Prairie Home outscored Ss. Peter & Paul 4-3.
Ss. Peter & Paul coach Danny Fuemmeler said the man-to-man defense was much better this game. “The girls were coming off their man to help and we were able to stop the penetration into the lane,” Fuemmeler said. “We got up the floor and were able to convert fastbreak opportunities which was the difference in the game.”
Abby Fuemmeler had 14 points and four rebounds to lead the Lady Warriors.
Grace Williams finished the game with four points, three rebounds and one steal while Kellie Young added four points and two rebounds, Zoey Lang four points and one steal, Leah Ziegelbein two points, three rebounds and one assist, Allison Drummond six rebounds, Carleigh Meyer four rebounds and Allison Eichelberger with two steals and one rebound.
Brown had the game-high for Prairie Home with 16 points.
