The LSE Pirates seventh and eighth grade football team remained perfect after two games by beating the Versailles Tigers Tuesday night on the road by the scores of 32-0 and 40-6, respectively.
In the seventh grade game, LSE Pirates football coach Curtis Walk said the kids really had a good night on both sides of the ball. “They are working very hard and getting better every play,” Walk said.
The Pirates, 2-0 on the season, led Versailles 24-0 at the half and then tacked on another touchdown and two-point conversion in the third quarter to round out the scoring.
Treveon Coleman had a big night under center for LSE by completing 2 of 5 passes for 39 yards and rushing for 128 yards and three touchdowns on six carries.
DaWan Lomax finished the game with seven carries for 52 yards and two catches for 39 yards. DJ Wesolak added five carries for 33 yards while TrayShawn Harris-Quint had five rushes for 22 yards and Jamesian McKee with two carries for 8 yards.
On defense, Wesolak led the Pirates with seven solo stops and two assisted tackles. Coleman had six solos and two assisted while McKee added five solos, Peyton Hahn with two solos and one assist, Chandler Stonecipher with three solos and Cade Schupp with two quarterback sacks.
The LSE Pirates eighth grade team also dominated Versailles by leading 24-6 at the half and 32-6 after three. LSE also added a touchdown and a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter.
Walk said every kid has stepped up and played well for the eighth grade team. “They are getting exciting to watch,” Walk said.
Andrew Wiser led all rushers in the game for LSE with three carries for 104 yards and one touchdown. Wiser also had one catch for 52 yards and one score.
Tyson Franklin finished the game with five carries for 72 yards and one touchdown while Lane West had five carries for 58 yards and one touchdown, Tyree Walters three carries for 17 yards, Spencer Steakley three carries for 14 yards and Harley Waller three carries for 8 yards.
On defense, Lane West led the Pirates with eight solo stops and two quarterback sacks.
Harper Stock had five solo stops and one quarterback sack while Andrew Wiser added five solo stops and one assisted tackle, Hunter Pethan with six solo stops, Gage Offineer with three solo stops and two assisted tackles, Kollin Kosnopfal and Jason Bundy each with four solo stops and Cody Garner with three solo stops and one assisted tackle.
The LSE Pirates seventh and eighth grade football team will host the Mexico Bulldogs on Tuesday, Sept. 20th at Gene Reagan Field starting at 5 p.m.
