Three members of the New Franklin boys cross-country team competed in the Salisbury 3500 Tuesday at Salisbury Muncipal Golf Course.
New Franklin coach Adam Quest said Tyler Perkins finished 29th overall in a time of 14 minutes and 48 seconds while Sam Ridgeway placed 34th overall in 15 minutes and 8 seconds. Hayden Wiseman, meanwhile,  took 64th in 19 minutes.
“The Salisbury 3500 was a good first meet for us,” Quest said. “We only had three freshmen competing at the meet, and none of them has run the full 5000 in a meet before, so starting with the shorter 3500-meter distance in our first meet was a good learning experience for them. I simply wanted them to see how a high school race was run, and get some experience with how it felt to run the longer distances. In the end, I feel like we accomplished those goals. All three boys competed very well, and I think all three came away having learned quite a bit.”
