The Boonville Daily News and Boonville Ready Mix did something that hasn’t been accomplished all season in Cal Ripken Minor Friday night at Harley park.
With Boonville Daily News winning 11-10 over Rt. B Cafe in the first game, Boonville Ready Mix came back in the nightcap to win by the same identical score against Axis Seed.
But that’s where the similarities end as Boonville Daily News improved to 9-1 on the season with the win while Boonville Ready Mix raised its season record to 2-7.
Although the BDN out-hit Rt. B Cafe 9-2, Rt. B Cafe led at one point in the game by a score of 9-3 after 2 1/2. However, in the bottom-half of the third, Boonville Daily News rallied back with six runs to tie the game at 9-all. Then, after a scoreless fourth inning, Rt. B Cafe tacked on another run to go up 10-9 only to have the BDN rally again with two runs in the bottom-half of the inning for the victory.
Ethan Watson picked up the win on the mound for Boonville Daily News while Lawson Edwards took the loss for Rt. B Cafe. Treyton Ginter started the game for Boonville Daily News and pitched the first-two innings, giving up four runs on four walks while striking out three. Henry Rohrbach then came in and pitched 2/3 inning in relief and allowed five runs on one hit and four walks while striking out two. Meanwhile, after Dakota Williams pitched two innings and surrendered one run on one hit while striking out six, Watson came in and pitched 1/3 inning in relief and issued one walk while striking out one batter.
For Rt. B Cafe, who dropped to 1-8 on the season, Bentley Turner pitched 3 1/3 innings and gave up nine runs on seven hits while striking out three batters. Then, to finish the game, Edwards pitched 2/3 inning and yielded two runs on two hits and one walk while striking out one.
As for the hitting in the game for Boonville Daily News, Tyson White went 2-for-3 with a single, double and one RBI. Dakota Williams was also 2-for-3 with a single and a double while Rhad Leathers added one triple and three RBIs, Treyton Ginter with one double and one RBI, Henry Rohrbach, Daviohn Klearman and Luke Poulsen each with one single and Ethan Watson with one RBI.
For Rt. B Cafe, Peyton Monteer went 2-for-3 with a single, double and one RBI. Dakota Troost drove in two runs while Christian Kosky had one RBI.
In the nightcap, Axis Seed and Boonville Ready Mix battled back and forth with two ties at 5-5 and 10-10. Axis Seed also led Boonville Ready Mix 10-9 after 3 1/2 only to have Boonville Ready Mix rally back with one in the bottom-half of the fourth and one again in the fifth for the victory.
Lance Haynes was the pitcher of record in the game for Boonville Ready Mix while Eli Stock took the loss for Axis Seed, who dropped to 3-5 on the season. Isaiah Hauptmann started the game for Boonville Ready Mix and gave up seven runs on four hits and four walks while striking out four batters in 2 2/3 innings. Zander Schuster then came in and pitched one inning in relief and allowed three runs on one hit and four walks while striking out two. Then, to finish the game, Haynes pitched 1 1/3 innings and surrendered two walks while striking out two batters.
For Axis Seed, Evan Bishop started the game and pitched 1 2/3 innings and issued five runs on two hits and six walks while striking out four. Will Stock then came in and pitched 1 1/3 innings in relief and yielded four runs on three hits and three walks while striking out one. Meanwhile, after Noah Remlinger pitched one inning and allowed one run on one hit and three walks while striking out two, Stock came in and pitched part of the fifth and gave up one run on one hit and three walks.
Boonville Ready Mix also had seven hits in the game, with Isaiah Hauptmann going 2-for-2 with a double, triple and four RBIs.
Zander Schuster was 2-for-4 with two singles and two RBIs while Jefferson Day added two singles, Gage Morris with one single and one RBI and Zack Espy with one run batted in.
For Axis Seed, Will Stock went 3-for-3 with two singles, one double and two RBIs. Evan Bishop had a triple and one RBI while Rhodes Leonard added one single and one RBI and Chase Litton with one RBI.
