The Bunceton Dragons baseball and softball teams fell on the road Wednesday night against the Sweet Springs Greyhounds by the scores of 7-3 and 21-0, respectively.
The Dragons baseball team, dropping to 3-3 on the season, trailed Sweet Springs 1-0 after the second inning before rallying back with one run in the top-half of the third. Then, after the Greyhounds exploded for five runs in the fourth and one again in the fifth to go up 7-1, Bunceton came back and plated one run in the sixth and seventh innings of play.
Snider picked up the win on the mound for Sweet Springs while Riley Layne took the loss for Bunceton. Snider pitched the first-si innings and struck out nine batters while giving up three runs on nine hits and one walk. Layne, meanwhile, pitched 3 1/3 innings for Bunceton and allowed five runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out five. Rylee Knapheide also pitched 2 2/3 innings in relief and surrendered two runs on four hits and one walk while striking out four batters.
Sweet Springs also out-hit Bunceton 12-10, with Snider going 3-for-3 with three singles and one RBI. Knipmeyer, Persell and Mitchell each had two hits.
For Bunceton, Braydon Doyle went 3-for-4 with three singles and one RBI. Eli Pearcy was 2-for-3 with a single, double and one RBI while Damion Amidon added one double, Brian Terrell, Dylon Custer, Riley Layne and Will Armstrong each with one single and Blake Petsel with one run batted in.
As for the Bunceton Lady Dragons softball team, they fell against Sweet Springs by a score of 21-0 in three innings.
The Lady Dragons, 2-1 on the season, managed just one hit in the game on a single in the second by Kylie Heilman.
Sweet Springs, meanwhile, opened the game with 13 runs in the first inning and then tacked on eight more runs in the second.
Skyler Shuffield took the loss in the circle for Bunceton.
