The Pilot Grove girls 4 x 400 and 4 x 800-meter relay teams finished third in the Cairo Invitational on Monday.
Competing against a field of eight teams, Pilot Grove coach Derek Skaggs said the team of Vanessa Lammers, Cortney Bealer, Marissa Day and Sydney Lopez finished the two races in times of 6:68 and 13:52.
The Cairo boys captured first in the team standings with 169 points. Glasgow finished second with 129, followed by Salisbury with 122.5, Higbee 56, Madison 41, Keytesville 37.5, Community R-6 11 and Pilot Grove with 1.
For the girls, Glasgow finished first with 191 points. Salisbury placed second with 181, followed by Cairo with 67.5, Higbee 60.5, Madison 45, Pilot Grove 27, Community R-6 17 and Keytesville 8.
“We went out on another cold day and competed,” Skaggs said. “It’s tough to compete when the weather is like it is the last two weeks.”
