The Ss. Peter & Paul girls sixth grade basketball team raised its season record to 13-1 by beating the Slater Wildcats 55-5 Tuesday night in the opening round of the New Franklin Tournament.
The Lady Warriors outscored Slater in all four quarters and led 33-2 at the half and 43-5 after three quarters of play. Ss. Peter & Paul also held a 12-0 advantage in the final period.
Ss. Peter & Paul coach Ken Brownfield said the girls were able to use their size and speed to their advantage against Slater.
“The girls came out and put a lot of pressure on the ball and did an excellent job of pushing the ball up court,” Brownfield said. “We moved the ball as good as we have all season on the offensive end and that created a lot of easy shots for us. This team is really unselfish and do a good job of creating open shots for each other. As a coach you love to see unselfish team play. This is our final tournament of the season so the girls are really amped up.”
Addison Brownfield had 25 points along with seven steals, six rebounds and four assists for Ss. Peter & Paul.
Emma West finished the game with 10 points, four rebounds, one steal and one assist while Lillian Rohrback tallied eight points, four rebounds, two steals and one assist, Olivia Eichelberger with six points, one rebound and one steal, Hailey James with four points, one rebound, one steal and one assist, Arji Webster with two points, two steals, two assists and one rebound and Alyssa Fitzgerald with two rebounds and one steal.
