Missouri State Parks and the Missouri State Parks Foundation have canceled the 2020 Katy Trail Ride. It was scheduled to start June 22.

Ongoing COVID-19 concerns led to the cancellation of the five-day, 240-mile annual ride. The event typically draws upward of 350 bicyclists from across the U.S. and overseas.

Many host communities and facilities used for the event are not able to accommodate social distancing guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, according to a news release.

Missouri Department of Natural Resources and Missouri State Parks staff continue to monitor the progression of COVID-19 and its effects in Missouri.
