A fifth case of COVID-19 was confirmed Monday by the Cooper County Public Health Center. It is now one of two active cases of the virus in the county after the recovery of three other patients.
The health center along with Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services are conducting an investigation into contacts the patient may have had to monitor those individuals for symptoms and for virus containment.
Two of the Cooper County cases were travel related, while the other three were community transmission.
The health center is conducting limited COVID-19 testing by appointment only. Individuals seeking a test must be preapproved by health center staff through a phone interview. People can call 660-882-2626 for an eligibility interview.
Those who suspect they have COVID-19 can also call a health care provider for an assessment. Residents can call the Missouri COVID-19 hotline at 1-888-435-8411 for more information. Drive-thru testing is available in Columbia with physician orders at the University of Missouri Softball complex parking lot or south of the Boone Hospital Center emergency room.
