A Cooper County resident who tested positive of COVID-19 briefly visited the Boonville Walmart at noon Monday, according to a Cooper County Public Health Center news release Friday. It is the fourth confirmed case in the county.

The center currently is investigating any close contacts the patient possibly had to monitor for symptoms and virus containment.

The center encourages anyone that suspects they have or were in contact with someone with a confirmed case of COVID-19 to call a health care provider before seeking care, unless it is a life threatening emergency.

The health department had reported a fourth case Thursday, but it was actually negative. The third confirmed case was reported Wednesday. The health department is investigating both positive confirmed cases.

Drive-thru testing continues in Boone County at University of Missouri softball stadium parking lot and at Boone Hospital Center south of the emergency department. Those who seek testing will need doctor’s orders to use the drive-thru facilities. Residents also can call the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Service hotline at 1-877-435-8411 for more information about COVID-19.
