University of Missouri Health Care will cut the hours drive-through coronavirus testing is available on weekends after analyzing usage of the service.

The testing site near the Hearnes Center will remain open from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on weekdays. It will close at 3 p.m. rather than 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, MU Health announced in a news release.

Through Saturday morning, MU Health had tested 2,831 people, with 91 positive results.

“Although we are decreasing our operating hours on the weekends, we do not want this action to be perceived as though our community is on the tail-end of fighting this virus," Dr. Jonathan Heidt, an emergency physician, said in the release.

Testing is available to people with COVID-19 symptoms such as shortness of breath or fever who receive approval from their doctors to have a sample taken.
