FARMINGTON — A Missouri prison inmate who is serving a life sentence for murder has been charged with attacking two correctional officers.

The Daily Star-Journal reports that 42-year-old Howard Harmon, of Independence, was charged this month with two counts of violence to an employee of the Department of Corrections. No attorney is listed for him in online court records.

The probable cause statement says Harmon became argumentative in June when two officers at the Farmington Correctional Center instructed him to submit to wrist restraints. The statement says he struck one of the officers about four times with a closed fist before the other officer wrestled him to the ground as he kicked and hit.

Harmon began serving a life sentence in 2012 after he was convicted of first-degree murder for fatally shooting 19-year-old Sabrina Jones, of Kansas City, during a home robbery.
