A SUV containing a toddler overturned Tuesday evening, while a Jeep in the opposing lane was struck by the resulting debris on Interstate 70.
The car was totaled, but the toddler sustained only minor injuries and the driver had moderate injuries. Both were wearing safety devices, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.
Madonna Garcia-Bolanos, 21, of Independence, was driving eastbound with a 2-year-old passenger around 5 p.m. at about the 107-mile marker in a Ford Explorer when the vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway, hit the median cable and overturned. Debris from the crash struck a westbound Jeep Wrangler driven by Angela Randolph, 42, of Jefferson City. Randolph was not injured in the crash, but the Jeep was moderately damaged. All involved were using safety devices seats, according to the report.
